Ikigai Film Lab’s Plastic Film Container Initiative | Turning Waste into Beauty

Are you tired of seeing film plastic containers piling up in your lab or being dumped into landfills? Are you looking for ways to reduce your environmental footprint as a film shooter? Look no further than Ikigai Film Lab's plastic film container recycling initiative!

Our mission is to repurpose film community plastic destined for landfill and transform it into tools for film shooters that are beautiful, functional, and sustainable. We have launched the first Australian film community recycling program for plastic, and it's free for any Australian lab or film shooter to be involved.

Why Are Plastic Film Canisters a Concern?

Every year, film manufacturers produce millions of small plastic containers to safeguard the 35mm film during transportation in the supply chain. However, a large number of these containers eventually end up in labs. Sadly, plastic waste remains a significant environmental concern, as all plastic ever produced still exists in some form or another, whether in use, in landfill, or, worse, in our oceans and waterways, posing a threat to our wildlife.

At Ikigai Film Lab, we recognize the urgency to act responsibly and sustainably to address this issue. That's why we're taking the initiative to recycle and repurpose film community plastic containers.

Our Recycling Process

We meticulously sort and categorize plastic containers and lids according to their plastic type and color, which includes HDPE, LDPE, and PP. Afterward, we proceed to granulate them into small flakes, ensuring they are ready to be fed into an injection molding machine. Once heated, the plastic transforms into a liquid state, which can then be molded into a range of products. The best part is that we assure 100% of the containers we receive are recycled and repurposed into something new, which is truly amazing.

Benefits Of Our Plastic Film Containers

Our plastic film cartridges are not only sustainable, but they also offer many benefits for film shooters, such as:

  • Easy to open and close lids

  • Protective design to keep your film safe

  • Reusable and durable

  • Available in various colors for easy organization

By choosing our plastic film container, you're not only doing your part in reducing plastic waste, but you're also choosing a quality product that can improve your film shooting experience.
